How high should a TV be mounted?
For most living rooms, the middle of the screen should sit close to eye level when you’re seated. Over a fireplace it ends up higher, and a tilting mount helps. Ramzi marks the height on the wall with painter’s tape first, so you can sit down and check it before anything is drilled.
Drywall, brick or over a fireplace
On drywall, the mount goes into the studs, never into drywall anchors alone. On brick or stone, it goes into the masonry with masonry anchors, set into solid brick rather than the mortar joints where possible. Over a fireplace, the heat and the TV maker’s rules both matter, and Ramzi checks them with you before mounting.
Can the cables be hidden?
Yes. On drywall, a recessed cable kit carries the cables inside the wall from behind the TV down to the outlet below. On brick, a paintable cable cover on the surface is the clean option.
A new power outlet behind the TV is new wiring, which is a licensed electrician’s job. Ramzi will tell you upfront if your plan needs one.
Fixed, tilting or full-motion mount?
- Fixed: sits closest to the wall, cleanest look
- Tilting: angles the screen down, good over a fireplace
- Full-motion: pulls out and swivels, for corners and open rooms
Full-motion mounts carry the most weight away from the wall, so they need the strongest fixing.
How much does TV mounting cost in Atlanta?
It depends on the TV size, the wall (drywall, brick or stone), the mount and whether the cables are hidden in the wall.
