When the caulk is cracked, peeling, pulling away from the tile or dark with mildew that won’t scrub off. Mildew under the surface means water is getting behind the caulk, and that is how walls behind tile get damaged.
How is caulk replaced so it lasts?
- All of the old caulk is cut and scraped out, never covered over
- The joint is cleaned and left to dry completely
- Mildew is treated so it doesn’t grow back under the new line
- A mildew-resistant caulk goes on in one clean, even line
- The tub or shower stays unused until the caulk cures
